Circumcision

If you’re expecting a baby boy, you might need to think about whether or not you would want your little man circumcised.

Circumcision is the debatable medical procedure where the baby’s foreskin is removed from the penis, two or three days after birth. The whole procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is usually done in the hospital or at a home by your doctor or a trained religious leader.

The wound will generally heal within seven to ten days.

Most people opt for circumcision for religious reasons, personal preference and hygiene reasons. Some possible benefits of circumcision include reducing the risks: of STDs, urinary tract infections, and penile cancer. Where as some possible risks of the procedure include bleeding, infection, and penile abnormalities.

So when deciding whether or not your son should undergo circumcision, it’s important to weigh both the benefits and risks of the procedure, and to talk to your doctor and other family members, so you can make the best decision for your son.
