Breastfeeding and Taking Medicine

If you’re breastfeeding and taking medications be very cautious as those medications can be passed to your child. Here are some important things you should know. Most drugs that you take will appear in your milk, but usually in very tiny amounts However, even in the smallest doses some drugs can be harmful to your baby.

But before you stop breastfeeding, make sure to check with your physician about switching to a safer medication. Remember that if you stop breastfeeding for a week it may result in permanent weaning, since the baby may not take the breast again.
