Weaning Your Baby

As your baby starts growing, weaning is a natural step in her development. A mother may decide that it is the right time for weaning either because she feels her baby is ready or because she is returning to work.

It is important to take the right steps to make sure that your baby really is ready for solid meals. Weaning your baby too early can deprive her of the nutrients she may still require from breast milk. In fact, during the first six months of your baby's life, her body will not be ready to digest foods other than breast milk and breast milk alternatives.
