Natural Labour and Relaxation Techniques

When considering birth options, many women opt for natural labor - meaning no pain medication. However there are other things you can do to help relieve the pain of labor.

Stress can cause a woman's body to tense up and her uterus to close up. This can prolong labor and increase pain. Engaging in relaxation techniques such as hypnosis or using visuals can relive stress, and make labor go faster with less pain.

Sitting in or standing under warm water, sucking on ice, being massaged, and applying hot compresses can also mentally and physically relax you during labor, and it can provide relief to tense and strained muscles.
Changing positions frequently is also helpful.
