Newborn's First Steps

This baby is taking his first steps at eleven months. On average, a baby starts to walk at twelve months, although each baby develops at a unique rate. Watch this and other Pregnancy Show videos for candid images of baby's first steps.

Baby walkers have a reputation for making walking too easy on newborns and in fact hinder a child's upper leg muscles from developing at a healthy rate. In addition, letting your child go barefoot until your baby is walking outside helps to promote good balance and coordination.
