Preventing Postpardum Depression

One of the best ways to ease postpartum depression before the birth of your baby is developing a good postpartum plan.

The first thing is to take care of yourself. Take breaks and don’t be afraid to take help from others.

Also try to avoid any major life changes while pregnant. If that isn’t possible, do them as early in pregnancy as possible.

It’s a good idea to make a list of things that need to be done around the house. Many friends will call and ask "Is there anything I can do?" Your answer should be, "YES!" Get your list and give them a few options. It will help take a load of stress off yourself.

After the baby is born try to get out of the house once in a while with or without your baby. It will help chase way the baby blues and will help you lose some of the extra baby weight.

After trying all these things if you’re still feeling depressed you should consult a health care professional right away before your depression gets worse.
