Shared Parenting Legistlation
Children of divorced parents are sometimes subject to stresses that children of happily married parents are not. These include the stresses of physical instability (like one parent leaving the home, moving between homes, and custody changes) and emotional instability (like lack of emotional support prom parents who are suffering from their own divorce-related stress, estrangement from extended family on one side, and hearing negative comments about one parent from the other).
There has been much debate about how best to minimize the stresses on children of divorced parents, and one proposed solution is shared parenting legislation. This legislation itself has been highly debated since some believe it will guarantee the best outcome for all involved while others accuse it of having a “one size fits all” mentality and not taking individual cases into consideration. This video purports the opinion that children of divorced parents are suffering from misguided public policy and a flawed family court system. It advocates for the support of shared parenting legislation.
