Glucose Screening

With good medical care, women gestational diabetes can have an uncomplicated pregnancy. The key is controlling your blood sugar levels. A glucose screening test can let you know if you are at risk.

At the screening you’ll be asked to drink a very sweet glucose drink one hour before having blood taken. If the blood work comes back with high numbers, this suggests that you might not be producing enough insulin. If this is the case you will then be given a glucose tolerance test. This test will help diagnose if you have gestational diabetes.
